Moraine Park Technical College is hosting a presentation by domestic violence survivor Teri Jendusa-Nicolai on Monday, October 22, at 11:30 a.m. in the WB campus’ auditorium, T-101.  Jendusa-Nicolai’s presentation is FREE and open to the public, but please call ahead of time to reserve a seat with Student Life (Contact info is below).

A resident of Wisconsin and mother of two children, Jendusa-Nicolai’s presentation will address domestic violence issues as well as her own personal and tragic experiences. Based on court testimony, she was beaten with a baseball bat, lost her unborn child, underwent multiple surgeries, and endured psychological and physical damage.

On Jan. 31, 2004, after beating her, ex-husband David M. Larsen kidnapped Jendusa-Nicolai, taped her head and hands, and sealed her in a garbage can that was partly filled with snow. Later duct taping shut and loading the garbage can onto his pickup truck, she was transported to and placed in an unheated storage locker and left for dead – while still confined in the garbage can. Miraculously, she survived.

The incident occurred exactly three years after their divorce was finalized, Jendusa-Nicolai later said.

As a survivor and presenter, she plans to discuss the signs of domestic abuse in the hope that she can save others from the kind of tragedy that she lived through.
